Today is the launch of Localmotion a satellite location for The W.R.E.N.C.H at The Forks.
Ride on down this afternoon, Sunday June 25th between 1:00pm till 4:00 pm for music, bike decorating, and snacks!
Throughout the summer they will be selling recycled bikes built by community mechanics, providing repairs and repair education, and hosting a number of programs including Indigenous history trail rides, bike art workshops, and basic mechanic workshops.
Also, every Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, The WRENCH hosts Mellow Vélo an open shop and workshops for women, trans, two-spirit, non-binary and femme people who might feel marginalized, intimidated and/or unsafe in macho, male-dominated spaces.
“We believe bicycles can be instruments of empowerment and freedom and that gaining knowledge of bicycle repair can have an immensely positive impact on one’s life and sense of self.”
W.R.E.N.C.H stands for Winnipeg Repair Education and Cycling Hub. They are a non‐profit organization developed out of a partnership between individuals, community groups, and the City of Winnipeg. They make knowledge of bike repair and maintenance accessible through programming and community bike shops.
