Interstellar Rodeo the “intimate and taste-making” city-centered music and wine festival returns to The Forks for its third year August 18 through 20th 2017. Curated by Six Shooter Records, the festival features music from a variety of genres but the overall vibe is folky, featuring many artists who consider themselves Americana or Roots performers.
If you’re not familiar with the artists, I’ve put together a few highlights:
Friday – Father John Misty – and this is the least weird video I could find.
Saturday – Rheostatics & Beck
Canadian performer and producer Danny Michel is also playing on Saturday and if you like behind the scenes impromptu performances with other Canadian artists, you should check out his web series Dan’s Space Van.
Sunday – The Dead South & Shakey Graves
There are three local names on the bill this year including Figure Walking, Leonard Sumner and sixteen year old, Moroccan-born, Carman, Manitoba raised Faouzia, who is having an exceptional year. She’s been featured as the next big Manitoba artist to watch has been featured at a number of high profile events this year including Festival du Voyageur (yes, she’s bilingual), The Jazz Festival, Canada Day at the Forks and the Canada Summer Games Festival. She writes her own music but also does great cover versions on her YouTube page.
Fun Fact: Ford Pier who performs on Sunday afternoon used to play with Canadian punk legends D.O.A.
